According to the National Sports Agency (NSA), ČEZ Nymburk has a capped electricity price only in the Zadov ski resort. In the case of the Podolský swimming pool and the Nymburk sports centre, ČUS owns the transformer station, so it is a connection to high voltage. "The electricity in the National Sports Centre Nymburk and the Swimming Pool in Podolí is not capped by ČUS according to the government's order, as it was a large business in 2020," the union said in an analysis. ČUS is a large consumer of gas in these centres, so it cannot use the price cap. The operation would thus become unsustainable for ČUS. "ČUS will probably have to close the Swimming Pool in Podolí and the Sports Centre in Nymburk from 1 January 2023," the union added. Sokol in uncertainty The situation is relatively complicated for Sokol, where individual units function as branch clubs of the Central Czech Sokol Association. "Each Sokol has its own IČO and applies for a grant from the National Sports Agency. The official structure is, however, such that individual Sokolovny are branch clubs of the Czech Sokol Association, and if the lawyers take it as one large business, then Sokol will not meet the condition of a small and medium-sized business," the agency said. The Sokol themselves count on the price cap, as politicians repeatedly inform them of this and it is confirmed by the press department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. "The announced price cap on energy applies to the Sokol (Czech Sokol Association) as well. It is viewed as a regular consumer. Therefore, it has a claim to the price cap," the office said. The NSA is also convinced that the Sokol will not be excluded from the system. "Sokol is often the only sports and cultural centre in a given municipality and we cannot imagine that it would not have capped prices. If that were the case, we would certainly discuss this situation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade," the agency said.
